Discipline

Dreams. Goals. Wishes.

These are things that we desire. Sometimes it’s called a bucket list. Many times, it’s something we day dream of as we stare away from our computer monitors and glance out the window at the sky, seeing the clouds drift by.

Or it’s something that we always push back. “We’ve got time,” we tell ourselves. Or we say “it can wait until tomorrow.”

What if tomorrow doesn’t come for you?

In your last moments, what are you going to remember? That one project you worked on at work? Or will you see your loved one’s faces, their smiles, their eyes? Or regret not going on that backpacking trip to Europe?

This is why we must have discipline to get what we want accomplished done. Even if we can only work at it 10 minutes a day. Because time is the one thing we can’t ever get more of—it is limited.

Make the time. Work after your goals and make them reality.

Music pounding in ears,

drowned out by the beat

of a heart in a chest,

drum beats reverberating

Air pumping, breathing

sweat trickiling as water from

a leaf in the humid air

This is life

Riding the pleasure

and the pain

Overcoming when you are down,

still moving

a heart that beats

still for another day

Another sunrise.

Growning stronger,

fitter, wiser

Choosing health

over sickness

Movement over sloth

Discipline over laziness

Keep moving

for the next sunrise
